Scope: Develop a strategic brand platform and identity for Delaware County’s new Comprehensive Plan through qualitative research.
Tasks:
- Conduct in-depth interviews with Comprehensive Plan steering committee
- Analyze findings to understand opportunities, challenges, audience needs
- Develop messaging pillars, naming/identity directions
- Present creative brief with brand platform recommendations
- Design final logo, tagline, color palette, style guide
- Provide in-depth audience analysis and messaging directions for community engagement
Approach: For this project, Allieway focused our qualitative research efforts on Delaware County’s hands-on Comprehensive Plan steering committee members. Through intensive interviews, we uncovered insights around the area’s diverse geographic challenges, contrasting rural/village dynamics, and the community’s strong attachment to its traditions while progressively moving towards the future.
Analysis of the interview input revealed common themes centered on economic development, protecting natural assets, modernizing infrastructure, and meeting needs for current and prospective future residents. We identified key audience mindsets and priorities to be addressed for effective community engagement.
The findings informed a comprehensive brand creative brief that recommended a forward-looking brand positioning aligned with the county’s vision. Naming explorations combined traditional roots with future-facing terminology. The tagline “Where Tradition Meets Tomorrow” concisely captured the desired balance.
Allieway presented the full strategic brand platform, including naming directions, audience analysis, unique messaging recommendations, and mood boards, to the steering committee. Their feedback was incorporated through a highly collaborative process. We quickly iterated on the name, fine-tuning the logo design and adjusting the color palette per their input.
Results: Delaware County’s Comprehensive Plan received a research-backed, distinctive brand identity that authentically represents the entire county while unifying stakeholders around a shared vision for responsible growth.
